What is it to be love? This is the question that my friend and inspirationist, Kat Nelson Troyer asked when I wrote this post the first time for her February guest post series on this lovely and complex topic.
That’s actually not my first question, though. My first question is:
Where did you find the love? That’s what I ask folks when they tell me the story of their lives and their challenges.
And the answer is mostly the same, if the person has found some happiness, anyway: someone who gave unconditional love and inspiration to be what really suits them. Acceptance for who we really are, without judgment, seems to be a pearl of great price for humans.
Kind of like the Subaru commercial from several years ago where the lady gives her significant other an easel, and he uses the car to go out to all sorts of places and paint scenes that she dutifully and lovingly hangs on the wall. Just the easel. The creative tool. The blank canvas. The space to create from love. Unconditional.
All motivations are based on love or fear. We are here to recognize the angel that lives within each of us (self-worth), and allow her to be displayed to the world. If we act out of unconditional love, then the angel becomes more visible, if out of fear, the angel will remain hidden. There is no judgment attached to our actions by Spirit (unconditional, again). Life is always an opportunity for growth. We can take up that opportunity, or leave it, as we see fit.
The love that we seek to be has four attributes, I think:
No agenda (no expectations)
No ego (love doesn’t puff itself up)
No noise (love is quiet)
It is expressed with all three of the above in place at all times (or at least as much as our humanity allows, which is enough).
A difficult challenge for most of us, but a worthy goal.
As we move in the direction of love and recognition of our own inner divinity and its embeddedness is the universal Divine essence, the physical energies within our bodies vibrate at a higher frequency level. We become more awake and alive, and more in joy and peace with the world around us. And, as more people vibrate this way, the whole planet, which has a vibration of its own, becomes more enlightened. By growing ourselves, by becoming unconditional love, we transform humanity and the entire world.
It just takes, every day, responding to others without conditions. And yes, this is possible. Yes. Just remember, that Spirit sees you without conditions, loves you without conditions, and you will be able to pass it on. Yes!
Open the Eyes of Your Heart
Open the eyes of your heart.
You will see the truth in everyone,
the angel disguised in flesh and bone,
the shining saint cloaked in fear, alone.
Open the eyes of your heart,
and fall into the darkened mirror.
Meet your soul at the crossroads of life,
give her a kiss for me, in starlight.
Open the eyes of your heart.
Gaze in wonder on the roses of love
that bloom in the garden of your delight.
Their sweet scent blows away the fear
in a dancing cloud of sun-pollen bright.
Open the eyes of your heart
and all those around you will marvel
at the golden one that shines anew,
the saint uncloaked, the angel revealed,
the illuminated power of You.
