A while back, when I was mulling over the definition of what it is I “do” when I relate to people that seems to give them a sense of inner freedom and being unconditionally appreciated, I came up with:
I give you space for you to be your own star.
Of course, an intelligent and curious individual in a discussion group asked me for a bit more detail beyond the metaphor.
Here’s What I “Do”
Excellent question. I provide a non-judgmental and encouraging space for people to increase their self-worth and follow their blissful creative muses. Most people’s inner muses feel rather neglected, I’ve found. So many responsibilities and fears to keep them out in the cold.
I ask open-ended questions to help you define what you want to create. We might draw some oracle or Tarot cards to see if the muse can speak more clearly through their archetypal symbolism (the answer is often yes).
Then I open up this emotional space most people seem never to have experienced before. I appreciate all of their efforts without any judgment at all. Nothing about failure to reach goals or self-discipline lectures. Nothing but acceptance and . . . space.
People seem to find the energy I bring with me very refreshing and releasing. They seem to feel freer to “go for it” because they know I’m there quietly cheering them on, with no expectations.
Sounds kind of like coaching, but maybe a Taoist version. 🙂 I don’t push. I don’t even nudge, really. Mostly I celebrate. Both your creations in action and the pauses between. I don’t feel responsible for leading you in any direction. I have no agenda, not in any of my relationships. I am simply a vessel for you to discover your desires and work out their expression.
I see you. I hear you. I ask you what you really want. I validate who you really are and where your soul is wanting to adventure. I give you the freedom to take action. The rest is of the story is yours to make.
